What?
Sunrise Adult Respite Center is a ministry that provides enrichment, activities, and community for adults with mild to moderate dementia. We provide a loving environment and engage with the attendees for several hours, which also gives a respite for their main caregivers.
When?
Once a week on Tuesday mornings from 9:30am – 1:30pm. Lunch included.
Where?
First United Methodist Church in the Neonate Room on the east side of the main building (enter through the middle double-doors).

Who are we?
We are a ministry of the First United Methodist Church in Weatherford, OK. We noticed a need for temporary care we didn’t feel was being met, and wanted to provide that service for some of our own members, but also to the community at large.
Sunrise Adult Respite Center is led by Director Bailey Hanes, who graduated with a degree in Music Therapy from SWOSU. She has a team of dedicated volunteers who have a keen desire to provide care for this community of people: Stacy Cummins, Dr. Sophia Lee; Marianne Price, Bridgett Sims, and more.
The purpose of the Sunrise Adult Respite Center is be to provide enrichment, activities, and community for adults with mild to moderate dementia. Specific activities will vary week by week, but will include movement, arts and crafts, worship, puzzles, games, music, and music therapy supervised by Dr. Sophia Lee, the head of the Music Therapy department at SWOSU.
